Some faces rewrite the rules of composition the moment they enter the frame. Bulzei — Zeynep Erdoğan — is one of the faces Byadoniaa has produced with most: a collaboration archive stretching from Zara sets to night streets, neon light to ferry decks.

Working with stage energy

Zeynep's stage background changes the frame: she doesn't wait, she flows. Direction on her shoots is short — a word, a glance, the rest is her own rhythm. For a photographer that's a luxury: you focus on composition, and the moment arrives on its own.

The night language

Much of the series on this page was shot at night: neon, signage, street lamps. At night a face usually surrenders to wherever the light comes from — Zeynep's doesn't; she turns the light to her own advantage. That's where the series gets its character.
